Hey friends,

It's been a fun week traveling to Denver and staying busy with work. We also celebrate the Assumption of Mary this week.

This Week's Thought Garden

  • How do you celebrate feast days vs normal or fast days?
  • Is there a right way to blog?
  • Are blogs supposed to be useful for the author or the reader?
  • Reading physically is better than reading digitally (6-8x comprehension!).
  • What do you share vs withhold? How do you decide?

What does Solemnity of the Assumption celebrate?

On August 15, the Church celebrates the fact that Mary, the Mother of God, was assumed into Heaven at the end of her earthly life.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 974) teaches, “The Most Blessed Virgin Mary, when the course of her earthly life was completed, was taken up body and soul into the glory of heaven, where she already shares in the glory of her Son’s Resurrection, anticipating the resurrection of all members of his Body.” (Source)

The Tale of the Princess Kaguya

While traveling I was able to watch some movies and have been deep diving the "Heian" period of Japan. This was when the capital was in Kyoto (whereas today it's Tokyo) and the elite were highly secluded. This movie is based on the folktale called "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter" believed to have been written between 794 and 1185 AD. (Trailer, or Read More)

Wrote a Bachelor Weekend Recap Song

My sister's fiancé, Tim, held his bachelor party in Vale, Colorado this weekend. It was a real blast, and using my AI-making skills, I had fun crafting a recap song of some of the highlights. It's a bit chaotic like the weekend was, but hopefully you enjoy!
