Five is a fun number. 5x5 gets 25 which has a 5 in it, weird and cool. Also weird is this is the 5th addition of the Brupdates!

Learning Japanese in 6 Months: Week Eleven Update (2 Min)

I've really been focusing on Japanese these last few days as I approach the halfway point for my 6 month journey! It definitely feels like it's time to kick it into gear...

I'm using Ghost as my host (ba dum psh) for my blog and found out that one of the largest writing communities Quartz, recently moved all of their stuff to Ghost to! So below are two fun articles from them and this week's history lesson: jaywalking.

A diet guru explains why you should eat dinner at 2pm (5 min)

Ah diets, such fun and causing no stress for anyone right? Right?? What if you just stopped eating by two? Apparently that works πŸ‘πŸΌ

Somewhat counterintuitively, restricting eating at 2pm produced more feelings of fullness in the evening.

Why are humans so bad at predicting the future? (5 min)

Some key reasons, (cause you probably won't read this, or am I just bad at predicting?) are our, biases, not knowing what's important, and unable to synthesize data.

But most of the time, we don’t even pay attention to the data. Instead we tend to rely on what we think we know when we make decisions.

The forgotten history of how automakers invented the crime of "jaywalking" (6 min)

The quote says it all:

"In the early days of the automobile, it was drivers' job to avoid you, not your job to avoid them"

Quote of the Week

"Truly successful people have learned to do what does not come naturally. Real success lies in experiencing fear or aversion and acting in spite of it." - Joseph Mancusi

Wrap Up

Thanks for reading this week's Brupdate! Hopefully you learned why we cross at a cross walk and walk at walk cross (I don't think this is a real thing, tehehe), why to stop eating at 2, and how week eleven went for me!

Till Next Week
